GlobalReview-Jakarta — The PKS faction of The House of Reperesentative of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) held a meeting with Deputy UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Nada al Nashif in Geneva, Switzerland (Thursday, 30/11/2023).
The PKS Faction delegation was led by the Chair of the PKS Shura Council, Dr. Salim Segaf Aljufri and Chairman of the PKS Fraction Jazuli Juwaini were accompanied by Ambassador Achsanul Habib from PTRI Geneva.
According the Chairman of the PKS Fraction, Jazuli Juwaini, the presence of the PKS Fraction at the UN KTHAM is part of a parliamentary diplomatic visit for peace and independence for Palestine, which has been under attack by Israeli aggressors for the past two months.

“The presence of the PKS fraction also coincides with the UN’s International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People which is celebrated every November 29,” he said.
Through this momentum, the PKS faction reminded that the UN still owes the promise of independence to the Palestinian people which was called for by the UN General Assembly since 1978 based on UN Resolution 32/40 B.
“That the Palestinian people have not yet received their rights, starting from the most basic rights, namely the right to live in safety and peace, the right to self-determination, the right to independence and sovereignty over their territory which was forcibly confiscated by Israel,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the PKS Shura Council, Salim Segaf Aljufri, in his speech said that guaranteeing human rights and justice is the highest priority in efforts to maintain world order and peace as mandated by the Indonesian constitution, the 1945 Constitution.
“Therefore, we are very concerned and saddened by the various conflicts, wars, oppression, discrimination, and even colonialism that are still happening in various parts of the world, especially what has happened in Gaza, Palestine in the past 2 months,” he said.
The Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia 2009-2014 hopes that the UN, with all its power and authority, can intervene
First, stop violence, murder and genocide of innocent people in Gaza Palestine
Second, uphold human rights and justice for the Palestinian people in achieving their independence.
Third, investigate Israel for all human rights violations, violations of humanitarian law, and disregard for various UN conventions and resolutions.

Fourth, enforce strict laws and sanctions for war crimes committed by Israel during the occupation of Palestinian land.
“The world must stop Israel from all forms of annexation, occupation and colonization of the Palestinian territory. On the contrary, the Palestinian people must obtain their right to independence in their own land. This is a peace solution that we must realize together,” concluded Dr. Salim.*
